Flight Station Update #2 — Founders Edition & Launch Details
Flight Station is getting very close.
Over the last few weeks, I’ve been working through the final details — testing the first units in the real world, refining the software, finalising packaging, setting up international shipping and getting everything ready for the first public release.
With those pieces now coming together, I can finally confirm the Founders Edition pricing, pre-order date and production plans.
Founders Edition — $299 NZD
The Flight Station Founders Edition will be limited to 50 individually numbered units.
The first five Flight Stations are already out in the real world being tested, leaving 45 Founders Editions available for pre-order.
The remaining production run will consist of:
23 Midnight
Dark enclosure with real mahogany veneer.
22 Arctic
Light marble-effect enclosure with real oak veneer.
Every Founders Edition will be individually numbered and supplied with its corresponding numbered Founders card.
Once these 45 are gone, the Founders Edition run is complete.

The Founders Edition is priced at $299 NZD.
A 50% deposit of $149.50 NZD will secure a unit, with the remaining $149.50 NZD plus shipping payable once the Flight Station has been completed and is ready to ship.
This allows me to order the components and materials required for the production run while keeping the first batch manageable.
Completed units will be shipped progressively as they are finished rather than waiting for the entire production run to be completed.
Production & Delivery
At this stage, I’m estimating approximately 4–8 weeks to work through the Founders Edition production run.
The first completed units are targeted to begin shipping around the four-week mark, with further units leaving progressively throughout production.
These are estimates rather than guaranteed delivery dates. Flight Station is currently a one-person operation, and every unit needs to be assembled, finished, programmed and individually tested before it leaves.
I’m continuing to improve the assembly process and look at opportunities to outsource parts of production where it makes sense.
The goal is simple: get Flight Stations out as quickly as possible without compromising the quality of the finished product.
What Founders Receive
The Founders Edition is my way of giving something extra to the people backing Flight Station from the beginning.
Each Founders Edition includes:
Lifetime advanced features — access to advanced Flight Station software features without an annual subscription for the life of the unit.
Individual numbering — every Founders Edition carries its own unique production number.
Matching Founders card — a physical card carrying the corresponding number.
Continued software updates — Flight Station will continue to evolve after launch with new features and improvements.
The Founders Edition price is $299 NZD, compared with the planned $349 NZD Standard Edition price.
Auto Follow & Advanced Features
One of the features I’ve been developing is Auto Follow.
Flight Station's normal aircraft-following functionality will continue to work without a subscription. You can manually select and follow aircraft visible on the radar as part of the core Flight Station experience.
Auto Follow takes that further by continuously searching for saved callsigns and automatically following those aircraft when they appear nearby.
Founders Edition owners will receive access to Auto Follow and other advanced features for the life of their Flight Station without an annual software subscription.
International Shipping
Another big piece of the launch has been getting international shipping organised.
Flight Station will be available internationally, with shipping costs depending on destination. Final shipping is added to the remaining balance when the unit is completed and ready to leave.
For international orders, any applicable import duties, taxes or customs charges at the destination are the responsibility of the recipient.
What Happens After Founders?
If all 45 available Founders Editions are secured, I’m planning to open the first Standard Edition production run, initially limited to 50 units.
The planned Standard Edition price is $349 NZD.
Standard Edition production will follow the Founders Edition run, with units again produced and shipped progressively.
Virtual Flight Station
I've also been working on something a little different alongside the physical product — Virtual Flight Station.
It's a browser-based recreation of Flight Station that lets you interact with the interface and get a feel for how the real unit works.
You can adjust the radar range, scroll through nearby targets, view aircraft information, check weather and explore the settings using virtual versions of the physical controls.
It's still very much a work in progress, but eventually I want Virtual Flight Station to become both an interactive tutorial for owners and a way for anyone interested in Flight Station to try the interface before buying one.

Not Long Now
It’s pretty exciting to finally have a date attached to all of this.
Flight Station started as a small project for myself and has turned into something I’ll soon be sending to people around New Zealand and overseas.
There’s still plenty happening behind the scenes before September 19th, and I’ll continue sharing the progress here as everything comes together.
